I have recently joined Linked In and Facebook as a means to connect and share with others both personally and professionally. I find that Linked In is more professional oriented and the profile I build as well as the connections I make reflect that. I like how it highlights my skills to possible employers and that colleagues, past and present, can endorse each other in our strength areas. It's a place I can post articles about my profession and share what I'm passionate about in education with those whom have similar interests. With Facebook I seem to have more personal connections, although with fan pages and groups it's possible to connect professionally as well. For the most part I use it to socialize, share photos and keep up with friends and family. I'm linking both to my website as a means to build my Professional Web Presence and expand my personal learning network, though the Facebook link will go to my coaching page and not my personal page.
