Wiki's are web applications that allow for users to collaboratively create and share content knowledge online. It can support the planning of a project, coordinating an event, organizing a group and sharing thoughts or facts about a topic. Advantages of using wiki's in education is that each student can access information at anytime, edit and instantly contribute. This will likely increase student participation and encourage them to learn from each other. When the students add detail to a discussion they have to take personal responsibility and carefully think about their words and the sources of information they decide to share. All of these help shift education towards student-centered learning.
